A Gameboy Case for your smartphone?
Please note, this is not a standard cover allowing you to dress up your smartphone with a “Gameboy style“, but good to take advantage of a small mobile console, with its dedicated screen. Indeed, the “Gameboy Case” (that’s its name) has a small color screen and an integrated battery, which allows it to be completely independent of the smartphone. In this regard, the object is only compatible with a selection of iPhone and Samsung devices.
Marketed by The Case Universethis smartphone case is presented as “your perfect retro portable gaming partner and an indispensable companion to kill time and stress.” For this, the hull can count on a little over thirty pre-installed games, including Super Mario Bros, Pac-Man, Galaga, Tetris, Super Contra, but also Arkanoid, Ice Climber or Bomberman. The object offers an autonomy of approximately 6 hours, and is recharged directly via microUSB.
In addition to its small screen, this shell also has a directional cross, A and B buttons and a small speaker. As Android Authority points out, this little shell is perfectly functional (and perfectly unofficial), but quickly displays a very cheap side qualitatively speaking… and that’s probably why the object is offered at only 37 dollars.
Despite its name, this hull Gameboy Case doesn’t actually offer any sort of “Game Boy” experience from a “software“, the object simply allowing you to enjoy a selection of diverse and varied games, in nomadic mode. The concept remains very original, although completely unofficial once again, but still has many shortcomings, starting with the impossibility of adding games or the total absence of any remaining charge indicator.
