This understated detail is making a comeback on iPhone, fans are loving it

They were jubilant as soon as the latest iOS 16 beta was published. On iPhone, the next version of the operating system will be an opportunity to find a missing detail since the release of the iPhone X. With the arrival of screens with notches, battery percentage was no longer displayed on the main interface, to the left of the small battery logo. A perhaps insignificant detail – especially since it was enough to display the notification center to find it – but which had its small announcement effect on Monday August 8.

With iOS 16, it will now be possible to add the battery percentage. But Apple no longer presents it in the same way. Due to space constraints with the notch and the Face ID (facial recognition) sensors, it is no longer possible to display the number to the left of the battery. Its display has therefore migrated inside the latter. In the current beta version, available to the public, this display remains optional.

Procedure to activate the battery percentage (iOS 16)

To activate it, you must therefore download iOS 16 with the fifth version of the beta (the final version will arrive in the fall, at the same time as the iPhone 14) and go to the settings. Then, you have to go to the menu dedicated to the battery and activate the option Percentage.

If many love it, some remain skeptical while the display with the number inside the battery no longer leaves visible the gauge which is gradually emptying. We therefore have the impression of having a continuously full battery, or a battery connected to the mains.

At least, thanks to iOS 16, users should be able to have a choice. Personalization is the key word for this new generation of iOS. We had never seen Apple offer so many possibilities to configure the interface. By the way, the new lock screen (the showcase of the new update) is offered in several versions and everyone can customize the font and colors as they wish. Possibilities that were almost impossible a few years ago at Apple, ready to do anything to distinguish itself from its competitors at Android.
