One of the enormous advantages of Android is the customization and the community that is dedicated to developing applications for the devices. The GCam takes the cake in this regard and there is a huge community dedicated to Dive into the new features of the Pixel cameras to transfer the experience to other Android phones.
After an extremely stable GCam 8.9 whose more polished version came out a few days ago, We are already starting to see the new generation of the GCam. It is still not very advisable, but it arrives before the Pixel 8 and opens the door to the development and improvement of the new Google camera for almost any Android mobile.
You can now try the camera of the new Pixel on any Android
When we talk about GCam, we cannot refer to a single application. There are different modders working on their own implementations, BigKaka or BSG being some of the most famous. Shamim is also among the best and in recent days he has been experimenting with the new generation of Google camera.
A few days ago he launched the first beta of GCam 9.0 and, now, a second version arrives that you can download through this link, but it may not suit you unless you know what it is about.
For now, and at the expense of what Google announces at its event on October 4, we know that Gcam 9 focuses on an improved interface. The previous version added very interesting improvements in both HDR+ and RAW, but with the data we have from the new version, we ‘only’ found a more polished interface.
We also knew that this version of the camera is, for the moment, exclusive to the Pixels with Android 14, but just two days after Google updated it, Shamim launched its version for other terminals with its GCam 9.0. Offers support for mobile phones with Android 11 or higherbut as I say, don’t expect this version to be your main camera from now on.
I have installed it on a Realme GT Neo 3T fully updated to Android 13 and it works without a problem… in photo mode. I can see the new interface with an interesting redesign to ease the visual burden, but When I try to record video I get an error.

It tells me to exit the mode and re-enter, but it doesn’t work. It also doesn’t matter if I force close the app or restart the phone, so I can’t benefit from the improvements in video recording with this version of GCam on my device.
Now, this is totally normal because, as we say, this is the second beta. Once Shamim has started experimenting with the GCam 9, andHopefully we’ll see others modders encouraged to create their versions and, in addition, Shamim himself will begin to publish corrections more frequently to release a first stable version.
We will see what happens over the next few weeks, but it is clear that once they have the code for the new camera, all that remains is to wait for good news for the community of the fantastic Google camera.
But hey, if you’re interested in trying (I already said that you can use the photo mode without a problem), you can download this new beta version of GCam 9 through the Celso Azevedo websiteas usual.
