The news aroused diverse reactions; euphoria for the fans of the founder of Tesla, concern for those who see uncertainty about the future of the social network (including some Twitter workers) and even skepticism among some analysts.
However, what is certain is that the microblogging network may not be the same again as Musk’s promises anticipate important changes that would impact the dynamics of the platform.
However, and despite the fact that there are many doubts about the future, a little light seems to come from one of the most authorized voices to talk about Twitter; one of its founders and main figure, Jack Dorsey revealed his position in a thread.
What did the founder of Twitter say?
After speculation of a mass flight of Twitter users, doubts about the future of the platform, concern about an explosion of hate speech or even fear of a brain drain, uncertainty surrounds the social network.
Not even the words of Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal have reassured the compa deal that will give control to Elon Musk.
Jack Dorsey had to arrive with some tweets to try to give peace of mind. By posting a link to Radiohead’s “Everything In Its Right Place” on Tidal, the former executive makes clear his position on buying the company he co-founded.
In one thread, Dorsey says he’s so happy to be putting out songs from an album about being human in a world ruled by technology, while at the same time stating that one of the virtues of Twitter is that it lights up as it “ closer” to a “global consciousness”.
And, for this reason, he reveals that he has regretted having allowed Twitter to become a public company, for which he considers that “rescuing it from Wall Street is a correct step”.
In this sense, he shares that he thinks that no one should control Twitter, which, in his opinion, should not even be a company, but a “public good”, so he trusts that “Elon is the unique solution”.
Although it is not explicit, Dorsey reveals his vision of an open, tolerant world with a social purpose, so he hopes that the hand of a visionary like Musk can take that turn that is so desired on the platform, but not to do business, but to really turn it into a “public conversation service”.
