Tech News Desk – At the behest of defense forces, security, intelligence and investigative agencies, the central government has blocked 14 messenger mobile applications being used by terrorist groups in Jammu and Kashmir. These apps include apps like Crypvisor, Enigma, SafeSwiss, Vikerme, Mediafire, Briar, Beechat, Nandbox, Conion, IMO, Element, Second Line, Jangi, Threema.
According to reports, several agencies found that these apps were being used by terrorists in Kashmir to communicate with their supporters and on-ground workers (OGWs). When the government came to know, it found that the representatives of these apps are not from India and they could not be contacted for seeking information as per Indian laws. The agencies had tried several times to contact the app management but they did not have any office in India to contact.
These apps used to help terrorists
According to the report, most of these apps were designed in such a way that users could hide their identity and their features made it difficult to trace the organizations associated with them. On being informed by multiple agencies, Home Affairs found that these mobile apps help terrorists and their supporters to engage in activities.
Terrorist’s communication network blocked
In the last few years, the government has been trying to block the communication network of terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. The servers of the apps that have been blocked are in different countries, which makes them difficult to trace. There is no way to intercept these apps because of the heavy encryption available in the apps. According to reports, these apps have been found in the apps downloaded in the mobile phones of the terrorists killed in the operations conducted by the security forces and intelligence agencies.
