Three years already. Yes, this month marks three years since the Apple Card was launched in the United States. The Titanium Credit Card was first rolled out to a limited number of customers on August 6, 2019 before expanding to all eligible US residents two weeks later, with the official launch on August 20. Despite the passage of time, we still have no sign of an international deployment, including France.
No Apple Card in France, Canada, Belgium, etc.
Unfortunately for iPhone users living in other countries such as France, Belgium, Switzerland or Canada to name a few, the Apple Card has still not been launched outside the United States. . When we know that the iPhone has a market share of more than 50% in Canada, and that the North American country has 76.2 million Visa and Mastercard cards, we say to ourselves that Apple must necessarily work on it. And customers wouldn’t say no to a standard 2% cashback on purchases made through Apple Pay and 3% at participating merchants.
During a trip to Germany in 2019, Apple CEO Tim Cook said Apple was open to offering its credit card in other countries, but noted that banks and regulations vary around the world. Last year, the Apple Card brand was approved in Canada, but Apple has yet to announce plans to expand the card internationally.
Launched in partnership with investment bank Goldman Sachs and Mastercard, the Apple Card can be managed entirely through the app Cards an iPhone or an Apple Watch. Its main characteristics are:
- Free;
- Summaries of expenses;
- Cash back rewards paid daily;
- An interest-free financing option for the purchase of new Apple products;
- A very interesting cashback;
- A physical titanium version.
In fact, in addition to having it in Cards, the Apple Card also exists in physical form, an ultra-simple titanium card that can be used in stores that do not accept contactless payments.
