The opening ceremony of the fair will take place tonight Gamescomthe Opening Night Live in which Geoff Keighley will kick off the most important video game fair of the year. Without a doubt, Hollow Knight: Silksong It’s one of the most anticipated games for this year (or next), but unfortunately we’ll have to keep waiting because Keighley himself has confirmed that it won’t be mentioned at the opening ceremony.
The Gamescom opening ceremony is almost certainly the moment everyone is looking forward to, as it’s when the most anticipated games of the year are usually announced and previewed. Many fans were hoping that Hollow Knight: Silksong would be one of those announced games, but Geoff Keighley has been blunt about it.
Without Silksong at Opening Night Live
It was through his X account (Twitter) where the “boss” of Gamescom has directly said that we will not have Silksong, at least not during Opening Night Live, the aforementioned opening ceremony of the fair: «To be clear, there will be no Silksong on Tuesday during Opening Night Live. Team Cherry is still working on it.»
Fans have been patiently waiting for news of the second part of Hollow Knight since 2019, when it was initially officially announced. Since then, information regarding the game has been trickling in, and the last we heard about the game was in 2022, when Team Cherry published a new trailer (which, it must be said, is usually quite related to the launch being close, which has turned out not to be the case).
The truth is that if you ask anyone gamer They will tell you that they prefer to wait longer on the condition that the game is released complete and without problems, and it is normal because in the past we have already suffered many times the rush of developers, who in order to meet deadlines and give in to pressure from shareholders end up releasing incomplete games on the market and full of problems, such as Cyberpunk 2077 or No Man’s Sky to mention a couple.
Initially, Team Cherry planned to release Hollow Knight: Silksong in 2023, but the company already announced that there were delays in its development, so Gamescom 2024 seemed quite reasonable as a stage for the final release. However, we can now confirm that we will have to continue waiting because the fair starts today and the main person in charge has already wanted to make it clear that we will not have any news, at least not during the official ceremony that is the stage for the most important presentations.
For the moment, the title is still listed on stores like Steam with a release date “to be confirmed,” and the last sign of progress in its development was the ESRB rating that was published on the Xbox store about four months ago.
But hey, we’ll be looking forward to this year’s Opening Night Live, where (and I’m not kidding) we still have hopes for Bloodborne for PC or Bloodborne 2 for PS5, as well as many other games that we already know will be present such as Crimson Desert, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II and many others.
