The extensions that allow us to stop the automatic playback of videos not only work in Chrome, but we can use them in any other Chromium-based browser such as Edge, Brave, Opera and others but not in Firefox. These extensions can be a problem when making video calls as they block the automatic playback of any video, so it is recommended to disable it first or create an exception within the extension to prevent it from affecting them.

It also allows us to create a white list of websites that can play video automatically. Another interesting extension available in the Chrome Web Store and with which we can block the automatic playback of videos is Video Autoplay Blocker. The videos embedded in the web, after installing this extension, will show a red button that will allow us to play the video. Natively, autoplay of videos that are available on YouTube and Vimeo, but we can disable it by extracting it from the white list.
