The latest Twitter traffic figures are very alarming. The fifth most visited site in the world has lost several hundred million visitors in one month, and there is no sign that the situation will improve.
It seems that the Twitter situation is even more serious than we could have imagined. Statistics published by SimilarWeb tell us that the social network has lost 600 million visitors in September. Such a hemorrhage would be fatal for any other service, but X can still count on 5.8 billion monthly visits.

Elon Musk and Linda Yaccarino, the new CEO of Twitter, still reasons to worry, at a time when their company is desperately looking for new sources of income. At first glance, the decline in popularity of the service is easy to explain. The sensational arrival of Elon Musk at the helm of the Twitter ship has left many unhappy.
Mass layoffs, exploitation and poor treatment of employees who agreed to stay, controversial changes to the platform’s policy in terms of moderating disinformation, the list of grievances against the multi-billionaire is as long as an arm. If we add to this that Mr. Musk now wants to pay for basic functionalities such as viewing and publishing messages, we understand why “tweets” and advertisers are leaving the network social to look elsewhere.

The phenomenon is apparently global. According to Android Headlines, of the “176 countries that accessed Twitter in September, approximately 83% of them saw their traffic decrease “. Likewise, the site found that Twitter searches are down about 20% since Elon Musk took over the reins of the company, going from “14 million monthly searches to around 11 million a year later”. The beginning of the end for Twitter? It’s still early to say, but one thing is certain: Twitter leaders have their work cut out for them.
