How many times has it happened to you that you send a message quickly and once it is at its destination you discover a tremendous misspelling or something inappropriate? These things happen, sometimes due to forgetfulness, other times due to our digital skills, always due to haste, the autocorrect of the iPhone is also largely to blame and well, sometimes the consequences do not go beyond a few laughs if you send it to someone you trust. Others, because you feel more embarrassed: greetings to those who have signed their work emails with an outgoing. Today I am going to tell you two tricks that I have implemented to minimize these misspellings or iPhone autocorrect.
Use text substitution
This trick is ideal to avoid errors resulting from the automatic correction of the iPhone, but it will also improve your experience when writing text messages because let’s see, I’m sorry for the Olayas of the world, but generally what I wanted to write at the beginning was ‘beach‘.
It works quite simply: every time you type a phrase, you can configure iOS to replace it with another certain phrase. Or do it with words or strings. For example, you can put “kk” and change it to shit (excuse me). It will also help you avoid unwanted autocorrects.
How to do it? Go to ‘Settings‘ > ‘General‘ > ‘Keyboard‘ > ‘text substitution‘. Once there, tap on the ‘+’ icon that you will find in the upper left corner and on the next screen you will be able to add the quick function (what you are going to write) and the phrase that will appear.
In short: if your iPhone constantly tries to correct a word that you don’t want to correct, this text replace function is the solution.
Voice notifications of your failures
This is probably not the most practical trick, but it does pay off. a rarely used accessibility tool so that it serves as a snitch for possible errors. That is, it will warn you every time iOS tries to correct a word.
Go to ‘Settings‘ > ‘Accessibility‘ >’content read‘ > ‘pronounce when writing‘ and slide the toggle to activate ‘read auto text‘, which will automatically read auto-correct and auto-capitalization to you in real time.
It works for me because even if I go to the top, that voice warning usually has more effect when it comes to attracting attention and thus proceeding to correct.
