Samsung’s new bet on ultra-wide monitors is the G85SD model, a model that incorporates a QD-OLED panel with a size of 34 inches, 21:9 aspect ratio and that has a resolution of 3440 x 1440.
Like most ultrawide monitors that hit the market, this model is also ultrawide and has an 1800R curve to offer greater feeling of immersionespecially when used in video games.
Has a viewing angle of 178 degrees both vertically and horizontally. In terms of colour space, it supports 99% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, has a brightness of 250 cd/m2 and 1000 cd/m2 when the HDR function is activated.
It is compatible with NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro (remember that a few months ago the requirements to obtain this certification were updated) and is compatible with VRR and reaches 175 Hz of refresh rate. Like most of Samsung’s high-end monitors, this new model features an elegant build with a metal stand and virtually no bezels. It includes a joystick that allows you to navigate the on-screen menus located on the back. You can also use an included remote control to manage the operating menus without having to rely on the joystick located on the back.
As for connectivity options, it includes a port DisplayPort 1.4, two ports HDMI 2.1two ports USB 3.0. Also, like most monitors in this range, it is managed by Tizen OSso it can be used independently to play games, watch streaming video platforms or play in the cloud as it has two 10 W speakers.
In terms of ergonomics, the Samsung Oyssey OLED G8 allows for tilt and height adjustment of up to 120 mm, so it adapts to the height and position of any user. On the back, there is an RGB LED lighting system that can be customized. In addition, it has VESA mount 100 x 100 mm with a quick release system, so there is no need to use additional screws to fix it to the corresponding base.
