After testing the new in-app podcast recording tools for New Zealand users, Spotify is now testing a new audio feature in Vietnam, designed to encourage users to record their opinions of programs out loud.
As you can see, his thing is the audio business. A Reddit user has posted screenshots of the feature, showing how they are prompted to react to a playlist with a voice clip that will be published as a podcast episode.
As in his previous test in New Zealand, Presumably these reaction podcasts will be posted directly to creators’ personal profileswhere the followers will be able to listen to them.
Screenshots show that users included in the test see a microphone icon on the playlist screens andupon tapping it, they see a new screen that asks them to record a voice reaction to the playlist.
Once they hit the button, they can record in one shot or multiple clips by pausing. Later, they can edit the clip, add background music, and tag the playlist before publishing.
Spotify has confirmed the testbut the company hasn’t shared any details about where the feature is available, or how it plans to moderate these voice reactions.
“At Spotify, we’re always looking for ways to improve our users’ experience on our platform, and we regularly test features that we think will add value to listeners and creators.“, the company explained in a statement to TechCrunch.
Many of these features are based on Spotify’s proprietary Anchor podcast creation app. This evidence indicates that the streaming giant is attempting to turn listeners into creators by offering easy in-app tools to make and publish podcasts.
In its Q2 2022 results, Spotify said it now has 4.4 million podcasts on the platform.and that the users participating in them have grown at a “substantial double-digit rate year over year.”
Spotify has spent more than $1 billion on podcasts in recent yearswith €83 million invested this year alone to acquire podcast analytics companies Podsights and Chartable.
