Bill Gates It is clear what the next revolution in the world of technology will be. After a question and answer session held at Reddit A few weeks ago, the Microsoft co-founder endorsed his opinion on artificial intelligence models such as ChatGPT. In an interview with handelsblattGates stated that advances in AI are the most important innovation of this time.

The philanthropist said that Generative AIs like ChatGPT will revolutionize education, health and work. According to Bill Gates, in the future we will work fewer hours, since the machines will be in charge of performing routine tasks. This will allow employees to focus on the activities that really matter.

The tycoon went further and mentioned a hypothetical scenario in which an AI would be able to take notes during a work meeting and offer a summary with the most relevant information. Although Gates envisions this in the future, the truth is that it is already possible to apply it in Microsoft Teams. The latest version uses the OpenAI GPT-3.5 model to transcribe the meeting and create notes with the most important aspects.

Fearing that generative AI will put the work of humans at risk, Bill Gates thinks there is nothing to fear. There will be no less doctors or teachers, in fact, artificial intelligence can tangibly improve efficiency in education and health. The businessman believes that we are facing the most revolutionary change in recent times and confessed that he is impressed with the rate of improvement of current models.

Competition between Google and Microsoft will drive the advancement of AI, according to Bill Gates

Bill Gates revealed a few days ago that ChatGPT is a taste of what is to come. During his interview with the German outlet, the Microsoft co-founder mentioned recent Bing ads with GhatGPT and Bard, Google’s artificial intelligence. Competition between big tech companies will benefit the development of AI.

Although Bill Gates envisions a promising future thanks to generative AI, the truth is that we are at a transition point. On the one hand, the big technology companies that are leading the change should strengthen the security of their learning models, while the courts define laws that regulate artificial intelligence without undermining innovation.

Following the deployment of the new version of Bing with ChatGPT, some hackers managed to get the search engine’s AI to plan a terrorist attack. In less than 48 hours they found techniques to inject prompts in the chat window that they managed to bypass the OpenAI security barrier. Kevin Liu, a cybersecurity expert, got the code name of the search engine, its guidelines for its operation in a few steps.

For his part, Google lost $100 billion after Bard shared misinformation in a promotional video. The company published a tweet with a video of the chatbot in action, being asked about the James Webb discoveries. Bard replies that the space telescope took the first photo of an exoplanet, being that it was the VLT in 2004.

Bill Gates believes that today’s generative AIs require too much computation and don’t always deliver accurate results. However, that will change in the next two years.
