To get you started on the technicalities, we must first explain what RMS is: it stands for “Root Mean Square” and indicates the average level of power. This is the allowable power that the speaker can handle before it excessively distorts the sound or begins to deteriorate.
If the loudspeaker is made to work above that nominal power, it could be irremediably damaged since it will not be able to dissipate the heat produced by the electric current that circulates through the coil and this can melt the insulation that covers the copper wire that forms it.
This power measurement is the one that provides the most useful information when evaluating a sound system and that can serve as an element to compare between different models. It is, in short, the power that has to serve as a guide when deciding on a purchase because it is the most accurate and the one that provides the most value.
MUSIC POWER
It is the amount of electrical power that a loudspeaker can handle with an input signal of pink noise (sound that simulates a musical theme) without suffering permanent damage.
Normally the duration of the test is one second and it is repeated 60 times at intervals of one minute.
The value obtained is calculated on the nominal value of the impedance. For this reason and by using a pink noise “to taste” (in ideal conditions) totally subjective results are achieved that offer unreliable information.

PEAK POWER (PMPO)
The PMPO or “Peak Music Power Output” is the maximum music output power. This term refers to the maximum power successfully delivered and dissipated to speakers under perfect conditions. It is measured in extremely short time intervals (10ms) and until the speaker breaks.
It is important to clarify that the PMPO power is not a “real” value at all. Rather, it is a commercial fact, completely useless, used by many manufacturers to have a more solid argument to sell. Therefore, for greater fidelity, it is recommended to use the nominal power that represents the real power that the loudspeaker is capable of withstanding.
At Energy Sistem we want you to listen to your music with the best quality without missing a single detail. Therefore, the power of all our equipment is expressed in real power (RMS). This is the measurement that we advise you to take into account whenever you buy one of our Energy speakers, since it is the most objective and therefore the most reliable, now you can have quality without losing details.
