What does VoLTE mean? Surely you have seen these acronyms on your cell phone and wonder what it is for or what advantages it has for you. Well, in short, it is a tool that your phone has to offer you better audio quality.
Also known as Voice over Long Term Evolution or Voice over LTE, it is a technology that enables voice calls to be made over the LTE/4G mobile network. Previously, this technology was mainly used for Internet browsing, and when calls were made, phones automatically switched to 3G or 2G networks.
This change used to cause a short delay before the recipient’s phone started ringing. However, thanks to VoLTE, this delay has been completely eliminated, according to companies like Sony.
On 2G or 3G networks, calls and data are separated, which means that they cannot work simultaneously. For example, on a 2G network, if you’re on one, incoming text messages will only be received once you end the call.
So VoLTE means a change in the way you communicate through your cell phone, in a 4G LTE network, both calls and data can work simultaneously, allowing you to receive text messages instantly even while on a call.
What does VoLTE mean and what advantages does it bring?
VoLTE simply means Voice over LTE and it brings important advantages that you should consider:
- Once enabled, you’ll enjoy high-quality calls and reduced background noise.
- During voice calls, your phone will stay connected to the 4G/LTE network instead of switching to a 3G or 2G network.
- An additional advantage of VoLTE is that you can use 4G/LTE data services, such as Internet browsing and Internet sharing, simultaneously while making or receiving calls.
- It is important to note that, when making calls via LTE, additional data is not consumed, but calling minutes are used according to your service plan. This means that you will pay for the voice call service, not for the data you use during the call.
Remember that the availability and exact details of what VoLTE means may vary depending on the network operator and phone model. If you have any questions or difficulties activating VoLTE, we recommend contacting your network operator for specific support for your device.
