The battery of your mobile is an essential part that influences its performance and duration. Therefore, it is important that you know how to care for it and how to check if it is in good condition.

Mobile phone batteries are consumer devices that deteriorate over time. This means that the autonomy will decrease as you use it, so if you notice that your equipment is running out of battery faster than usual, you may need to check its health status.

Besides, if the battery is very deteriorated, it can affect the operation of the mobile, causing unexpected closures or performance problems. To avoid these inconveniences, it is crucial that you check the battery status of your device from time to time.

Battery health and life: what they are and how they differ

In general terms, Battery health refers to the ability to retain its original charge as time passes and it is subjected to charge and discharge cycles. The higher the percentage, the better the status of this component. A lower battery status indicates that it is deteriorated and will not last long between charges.

On the other hand, battery life refers to how long the device can run on a single charge before being completely depleted. Life is usually measured in charge cycles, so a cycle is when the battery is completely depleted and then fully recharged, but it’s crucial to know that each charge cycle reduces battery capacity a bit.

It is for this reason that it is recommended not to let the battery discharge below 20% or charge it above 80%.

Battery health can degrade over time due to factors such as temperature, frequency of charging and discharging, and general age. It is common for devices to show less life as the years go by. To check the health of the mobile battery, as well as its status, you can follow these steps:

  • On Android devices: On many Android phones, you can find battery health information in the system settings. You can usually access these details by going to Settings > Battery > Battery status or a similar option, may vary according to the brand of your mobile.
  • On iOS devices: On iPhone you can get information about battery health and capacity through settings. go to Settings > Battery > Battery condition and recharge. In this section you will find details about the maximum capacity compared to the capacity when it was new.

  • third party applications: There are also apps available on Android and iOS that can give you more detailed information about battery health and status. Apps like AccuBattery, Battery Guru, and CPU-Z can provide data on actual capacity, charge cycles, battery temperature, among other important details.

It should be noted that if your battery is in poor condition, there are a few things you can do to extend its life. For example, an alternative is to enable dark mode on your device, which uses less power than light mode.

Also, enabling power saving mode will reduce the power of your phone, which can help extend battery life. It is also advisable to uninstall applications that you do not use, since some of them run in the background and can consume more. Remember that a good battery health will allow you to enjoy your mobile longer and avoid unnecessary problems.
