He MWC is the world’s largest technology fair and, for a few days, all the spotlights are on the products that are presented there.
This year the editors of Computerhoy.com and Business Insider Spain have joined forces to cover all the news that have been presented between February 26 and January 2, yes the MWC officially starts on February 27but the brands burn the products in their hands and the presentations start even before the Mobile World Congress.
Some brands have dressed up for the occasion and have presented some of their flagships for the first half of 2023, but it must not be forgotten that this is a congress dedicated to innovation and mobility, so there is room for laptops, tablets and many, many prototypes that look like science fiction.
Lenovo Smartphone and Rollable Laptop
The folding mobiles took a lot of prominence in the past editions of the MWC and during this edition some more have been presented.
However, one of the concepts that we liked the most is the one proposed by Lenovo with a laptop with extendable screen and a roll-up screen smartphone. But let’s go in parts.
The laptop is based on a conventional laptop with a size of 13 inches which, at the press of a button, stretches its screen by unrolling it from below the keyboard to turn it into a 15” OLED screen laptop with a vertical screen. Upon completion of work, the mechanism returns to its original position.
The solution can be perfect for editing documents on the screen, programming with all the code on the screen, or for design given its vertical format.
On the other hand, Lenovo has presented its mobile project with a rollable OLED screen under the Motorola brand. The device displays a 5” curved screen at the bottom so that the screen reaches the back.
When you activate a switch, the screen slides to the top, leaving a 6.5-inch diagonal with an ultra-panoramic format perfect for watching videos or the vertical timeline of social networks.
Lenovo recognizes that they are products without an immediate presentation date and that they are in the development phase, but I have already seen the future and I don’t want anything else.
Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro, the high-end of Xiaomi gets serious for a photo
The mobile market is not at its best sales moment, but that has not been a problem for Xiaomi, which maintains its commitment to quality in the 13 series devices that arrive especially reinforced in the field of photography thanks to its alliance with Leica.
It was not enough for Xiaomi to present a couple of mobiles equipped with the most powerful processors on the market and with high-quality Samsung screens, the Chinese giant has also wanted to incorporate all the knowledge of Leica in the science of color and in the manufacture of glasses to get one of the most interesting mobiles for photography of 2023.
Leica’s contribution leaves its mark on both models, but is especially notable in the xiaomi 13 Pro who rides triple 50 Mpx camera with lenses designed by Leica for this smartphone.
With Xiaomi’s alliance with a photographic partner as prestigious as Leica, the stigma that Xiaomi are cheap phones is put to an end, and a new era of premium mobiles in terms of features, but also in price, is ushered in.
This launch did not come alone, since Xiaomi has also presented a wide variety of products from its ecosystem, adding new headphones, a smart watch and a redesigned electric scooter with double suspension.
OnePlus 11 Concept, liquid cooling for a high-flying mobile
OnePlus was one of the brands that went ahead of the MWC to present its flagship for the first half of the year with the OnePlus 11 5G, a smartphone that we already analyzed a few weeks ago and that left us with very good feelings.
Using the OnePlus 11 as a development basethe Chinese brand has pulled an ace up its sleeve with the OnePlus 11 Concept, a smartphone with 2 water pumps to cool the interior of the mobile while you play or charge.
Like so many other development projects, we may never see this smartphone in stores. However, its development represents a new way of managing the temperature generated by the processor and memory chips when their performance is maximized.
In this sense, mobile phones have gone from integrating simple copper plates that dissipated heat from the components, to vapor chambers that improve heat transmission to move it away from the surface of the chip. With this new proposal the mobile phone cooling will reach a new milestone, in addition to its design being very attractive.
TCL NXTPAPER 11, a tablet with technology that eliminates reflections from the screen
If you are currently reading this article on a smartphone or tablet, it is more than likely that you have some light reflections on the screen from overhead lights or sunlight, making the screen difficult to read.
The screen technology NXTPAPER 2.0 display developed by TCL manages to eliminate practically all of these annoying reflections thanks to a specific manufacturing process in which up to 10 superimposed layers are used so that the light is scattered to improve the vision of the content.
TCL has put this technology into practice with its new TCL NXTPAPER 11, but it has also used it in a prototype smartphone with an anti-glare screen that, as a prototype, may never see the light of day, but it will leave its development legacy.
Honor already has a new flagship and the first international folding
Honor is an independent brand of Huawei since 2020in case you hadn’t heard, and it can still make use of Google services, just like the rest of the brands with Android… and also its catalog is becoming more and more interesting.
The Chinese brand has come to this MWC ready to reinforce its product catalog with a new flagship, the Magic 5 Proof the highest range both in power and in camera, and that we have already tested.
The new mobile has not arrived alone since Honor has announced that its Magic Vs foldable will break the limits of the Chinese border and reach the global market. Honor wants these high-end phones to be its spearhead to gain share in the international market. To this day, it is a leader in China, but it is having a hard time taking off abroad.
The arrival of a second foldable book-type mobile that makes things difficult for the almighty Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, which until now reigned in that category without competition.
OPPO Air Glass 2, the new generation of mixed reality glasses
At the previous MWC we saw the first generation of OPPO’s smart glasses and this year the brand has decided to launch the second version of this device. On this occasion, he has opted for a more current and practical design. However, there are many features that are not yet available, such as GPS or health monitoring.
This year has been the Mobile World Congress of smart glasses and OPPO was not going to be less. The firm continues to bet on this type of wearables that go one step beyond the smartphone and that help to optimize our day to day.
In fact, the vision and user experience of the glasses has been greatly improved compared to the previous generation since, as they are complete glasses and not a monocle mounted on a frame, the new generation improves stability and reduces weight of the set equating it to that of conventional vision glasses.
Huawei Watch Buds, the hybrid smartwatch that hides headphones
Huawei is one of the leading manufacturers of smartwatches and wireless headphones. What would happen if both devices were combined into one?
The result is the Huawei WatchBudsa smart watch to use that, at the press of a button, raises its screen and reveals a pair of headphones with noise cancellation and surprising sound quality.
Actually this concept of unite a smartwatch and wireless headphones it is not something new. However, it is a great achievement to achieve it without the watch being a huge, heavy device with little autonomy.
The experience of using the Huawei Watch Buds is like that of another conventional smartwatch, but with the advantage of being able to listen to music anytime, anywhere.
Realme GT3, the fastest charge now reaches 240 W
In such a crowded mobile market context, the differentiation of a smartphone can mean the difference between being a sales success, or being one of the bunch and achieving mediocre sales at least.
Thus, some companies make use of certain specifications to get their chests out in a very competitive business. It is the case of realm gt3which arrives as the mobile with the fastest charge on the market.
Realme is one of the most daring companies in design (you will remember the Dragon Ball or Naruto editions), although in the case of the realme GT3 the strong point is its battery, since it has a practically unbeatable charging speed: 100% in 10 minutes.
realme has been aiming high for this feature for some time, and the realme GT Neo 3 already included a 150W fast charge that allowed you to charge your battery in record time.
