We are seeing how artificial intelligence is creeping into everything, almost without us realizing it. Just a few months ago, Microsoft presented Copilot+, a set of features and functions for Windows 11 based on artificial intelligence.
Although its “adoption” is accelerated and even hasty and somewhat rushed, it seems that it will be the next great technological revolution. It can help many fields, such as medicine, where it can help to offer more precise treatments. It is also useful for geology, architecture, the environment, climatology, etc.
Training required to work in artificial intelligence
There is currently no specific degree program to train you to work in the field of artificial intelligence. In fact, you can get a job in this sector in many different ways. You can be a programmer, a mathematician, a data analyst, a systems engineer, a robotics engineer, etc.
If you are interested in developing AI-based solutions, you need to learn three programming languages. These are: Python, C++ and Java. Well, actually, we could say that they are the three main languages that are used for absolutely everything today. Perhaps the most prominent is Python, which is mostly used for machine learning and natural language processing.
The segment that will undergo the greatest revolution due to artificial intelligence is the robotics. Today, most production plants use robots, and these could be enhanced by AI. Process automation and the creation of autonomous robots are two prominent fields.
Big Data and Cloud Computing are two other very important branches that are closely linked. AI requires experts in both fields, especially those who master Spark and SQL databases for Big Data. In addition, knowledge of platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure is usually required, which is essential for working with AI.
Maybe you don’t want to program and you’re good with numbers, so another option is to train in math. The most in-demand fields are experts in probability theory and linear algebra, although training in calculus and mathematical optimization for machine learning models is also required.
An exit that you may not consider and many do not consider is, ethics. AIs must be taught to act responsibly, avoiding any kind of bias. It is also important that they are responsible, not giving information that could cause harm to third parties or solutions to criminal activities, for example.
As the last highlighted field we have the Machine Learning or, in other words, teaching AI. People who are specialized in helping machines learn data to improve predictions or decisions will be required.
In addition to academic training, other requirements will be required for those who want to dedicate themselves to this segment. Special qualities and characteristics will be necessary, also known as “Soft Skill“.
Many job offers in this sector require great analytical skills and problem-solving abilities. A specialized person is also required who has the ability to innovate or propose alternatives to a problem.
But above all, one thing you should be very clear about is that you are going to need more than one language. In addition to Spanish as your native language, you will need, at the very least, English. It would also be a good idea to learn other languages such as French, German, Japanese or Chinese. Especially the latter two, as they could open many doors for you.
