Not a month goes by without WhatsApp preparing a nice feature aimed at improving the user experience or making the use of the app more pleasant and simple. The latest idea from Meta’s application is to integrate animated emojis that can be sent directly in a conversation between two users or in a group! This new feature was seen in a beta and could well arrive one day in the public version of the app.
Animated emojis to replace Apple’s
A new beta version of WhatsApp for iPhone (available via TestFlight for users invited by Meta) could soon revolutionize the way we use emoji in our conversations. The update brings animated emojis to replace Apple’s traditional emojis on iOS.
Telegram had already tried the experiment last year by integrating animated emojis into its application. However, this feature had to be urgently withdrawn to obtain approval for its update in the App Store, Apple had refused animated emojis!
Some emojis to start with, more animated emojis later
In this beta version of WhatsApp, only a few animated emojis are currently available. Among them are:
- The wink
- The face that celebrates
- The face that cries with laughter
- The face that cries with tears
- Face with little tears
- Surprised face
- The heart
- Fire
WhatsApp has chosen to animate the most used emojis first, with others to follow later.
The way it works is simple: when users select an emoji on the iPhone keyboard, they first see the standard iOS emoji designed by Apple. However, after sending it in a WhatsApp conversation, the animated version created by Meta appears. In addition, the recipient can animate the emoji at will by simply tapping on it.
Will animated emojis ever appear in the public version of WhatsApp? It remains uncertain whether Apple will approve this update, especially after it has already rejected some animated emojis from Telegram without providing specific reasons.
