The application will allow you to automatically transcribe audio messages into text messages.
WhatsApp developers are working on the implementation of a function that will allow users of iPhone and Android smartphones transcribe audio messages or voice notes to text messagesaccording to WaBetaInfo. A feature that will basically offer the possibility of “reading audio messages” from WhatsApp.
There is no doubt that this is a very convenient functionality for many users. Especially in those situations in which a user does not have time to listen to a voice note or does not want to play audio at a higher speed so as not to disturb the people around them.
WhatsApp Messenger will include transcriptions of voice notes to text messages
Recently, the representatives of the messaging application announced a future update with very interesting news for states such as reactions with emojis, link previews, voice states or rings for profile images. Now an even more exciting feature has been leaked, audio message transcription.
The WhatsApp Messenger application will automatically identify the language of the voice note and will execute the transcription to transform the audio into text in the opposite way, for example, Siri is capable of reading the content of a website. According to information from the beta version, transcripts will be processed within the device itself (iPhone and Android) and no data will be sent to Apple or any other manufacturer, which is great news in terms of privacy. This novelty will be one of those WhatsApp tricks that is worth using on a daily basis.
The new function to transcribe voice notes to text messages belongs to the version 2.23.3.73 of WhatsApp Messenger which, for the moment, is available in its beta phase. Therefore, it still has some limitations since it is in full development.
Audio to text transcription menu
As you can see in the WaBetaInfo screenshot that we have attached to this article, the developers have included a introduction menu to explain when the audio note transcription system is not available. If the system detects that it is in a different language than the one established in the configuration, the words of the audio message will not be recognized.
As we indicated, the function to convert audio notes to text is in beta phase and will be released in a future update through the iOS App Store and the Android Play Store.
