Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on Thursday said the new Telecom Bill will provide a roadmap for restructuring and promoting innovation in the industry. Speaking at an event of the Public Affairs Forum of India, the Minister said that the government will completely revise the entire digital regulatory framework in the next one-and-a-half years. Have to strike a balance. Ashwini Vaishnav further said that the digital world needs comprehensive laws and the Prime Minister has targeted the Telecom Ministry for globalizing India’s digital legal framework. Because the industry has to go through many stages. Therefore its restructuring is necessary. The minister further said that if the industry is to be restructured then we have to keep in mind that these things are my right and hence a clear frame has been laid in this bill.
Tech News Desk- Companies like WhatsApp, Zoom and Google Duo may now require a license to operate in India. Actually, the Indian government is coming up with a new telecom bill. Under this, over-the-top players such as WhatsApp, Zoom and Google Duo that provide calling and messaging services may require a license to operate in the country. The bill also includes OTT with the telecom service. The government has proposed a provision to waive off fees and penalties of telecom and internet service providers in the bill. Apart from this, the ministry has also introduced a provision of refund of charges for a telecom or internet provider company surrendering its license.
