The Covid-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on the film industry. During the year 2020, the news was dotted with numerous announcements of postponements of the release dates of blockbusters. So much so that some memes that circulated a lot online implied that we would never have the chance to see the last James Bond in our lifetime: Dying can waite.
The Flash, Aquaman 2, Shazam, Black Adam, when will the next DC movies be released?
If the covid has not disappeared, the general public and the authorities now seem to resolve “to live with the virus”, so that the cinemas have been able to remain open and the films are released normally. However, the problems of the seventh art did not disappear overnight and Deadline tells us that delays are to be expected on the side of Warner Bros films, and in particular in the DC Comics universe.
In detail, our colleagues explain that companies working on visual effects are overwhelmed with demands and are struggling to cope. A new release schedule has therefore been put in place. Here is the detail:
- Krypto and the Super Animals is postponed from May 2022 to July 27, 2022.
- Shazam: Fury of the Gods is brought forward from summer 2023 to December 14, 2022.
- black adam is postponed from July 2022 to October 19, 2022.
- Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is postponed from December 2022 to March 15, 2023.
- The Flash is postponed from November 2022 to June 21, 2023.
Despite these delays, we can still see that DC Comics plans to release three new feature films this year. In the meantime, the public can console themselves by going to see the new The Batman which is a hit at the box office worldwide. On the strength of this success, Warner Bros would like to develop several derivative series and films, and in particular a fiction devoted to the Penguin. Colin Farrell touched on the subject recently and you can re-read our dedicated article.
