All smart speakers to which you give an order and which, of course, obey, have become very fashionable. The orders are limited to different functions that are associated with a terminal, such as setting alarms, raising or lowering the volume or adding reminders. But there are users who have encountered some problems that need a solution, such as you can’t update your Amazon Echo with Alexa.
And it is that the speaker of the great Internet giant is not exempt from faults that you have to know how to solve when the time comes. Luckily, the speaker update process is not very long in duration, so if you follow these steps you will not have any problem to have your speaker operational in a few minutes.
How to update your Echo speaker with Alexa
If you have an electronic device with the ability to connect to the Internet, it is very likely that security is one of your priorities. In these times there is a lot of skepticism with all the devices that are capable of capturing photos, video, the location or the voice of someone, so constant updates are very important.
The problem comes when you don’t have an intuitive way to do this procedure as it happens on computers, which mostly have a screen to communicate. This is when you have to try other things, such as when updating your Echo speaker with Alexa.
Fix the dreaded ‘orange light’
The first thing that can happen to you is that when you ask the device by voice to update by voice. Normally the light should turn blue, but for some reason it turns orange. This is a more common problem than it seems and the best thing to do is to make one last try by voice.
If it doesn’t work, the best thing you can do is directly use the application on your mobile. You just have to follow a few simple steps with which to do it on your own:
- Turn on your mobile device
- Open the Alexa app, which we leave you just below these steps
- Go to Devices> Echo and Alexa
- Select the device you want to update
- Go to Change next to WiFi Network
- Follow the instructions that the app gives you
Use another WiFi network
On some occasion we have told you about how important it is to connect a device to one or another wireless connection. The arrival of 5 GHz has meant a total change when it comes to sharing the Internet to the point where you have to choose between more power and less range or the opposite.
At this point, you can change your connection in order to receive the best internet possible and thus avoid a failure in the updates that the device receives.
Do a factory reset
If we put ourselves in the worst case, in which the device does not obey or the connection is the solution, there is only one thing left to try: do a factory reset. To do this, everything is as simple as the following:
- Look for the volume down and microphone mute buttons
- Press them at the same time and hold for 20 seconds
- Wait for the ring to turn off and turn on again
You will only have to make this change and immediately reconnect the Echo terminal to the mobile device you have and reconfigure it your way. In addition, it will be directly updated to the new version as soon as possible and you should not have any more problems here.
