It seems that this temporary solution, given the fear of further fallswill remain at least until the Classic between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona on the weekend of October 16, which is assigned to DAZN in the distribution with Movistar Plus +.
Falls and outages on DAZN
During the match between FC Barcelona and Rayo Vallecano on August 13, 2022, Movistar Plus+ customers who wanted to watch the match on their devices verified that the only possible way was through the DAZN application. To do this they had to download and activate it. That’s where the problems started and that is the platform servers were not able to sustain such demand. The telecommunications company then had to publish an official statement.
«Yesterday, due to technical problems on the DAZN platform unrelated to Movistar, our clients could not activate access to the DAZN platform on devices. Due to the above, and to guarantee Movistar customers access to all matches and from any device, the DAZN football channels will also be available on the M+ App.»
The same thing happened to Orange TV customers, who can also watch all LaLiga football thanks to agreements with Telefónica and DAZN. Same solution as in Movistar Plus+:
«Due to technical problems unrelated to Orange, there have been incidents in accessing the DAZN app to watch the matches. So that our customers can access, we have temporarily incorporated the DAZN LaLiga channels into our Orange T appV».
It will continue broadcasting in the apps of the operators
What started as a temporary solution, It doesn’t look like it’s going to change anytime soon.. DAZN has already had two breaks (the one on matchday 4, broadcast entirely on Movistar Plus+ and the one that will now take place with the dispute of national team matches) and there will be no major changes at the technical and server level that ensure that it can be re-broadcast exclusively on its own app and with guarantees.
🌍😍⚽ The match that paralyzes an entire planet…🗓 #ElClásico of #LaLigaSantander 2022/23 will be played on matchdays 9 and 26!
🤔 Results?

According to industry sources, In Spain, 20% of football is consumed through mobile applications. It is a considerable percentage that the operators gave up so that it was originally consumed only through the DAZN app, but precisely this avalanche of connections has been the great problem of DAZN. Live broadcasts through digital platforms of especially popular content such as football mean that the servers cannot cope with the massive traffic. Taking into account the closeness of the Clásico, the most followed soccer game in the world, it does not seem that they want to take risks that end up in customer dissatisfaction and future casualties.
The great break of the 2022 World Cup (from November 20 to December 18) will be key to knowing the future of DAZN LaLiga on mobile devices. If the service is not reinforced there, we could end the season in the current situation.
