Final Fantasy XVI arrived in stores in the summer of 2023 and did so, as is customary, only for PlayStation. Something that only angers many players who still do not understand this compartmentalization that leaves them out of some franchises and that, unfortunately, is part of the game of exclusives that they use against each other.
Luckily in this case, PC users are safe because, even with a little more delay, we will have a version of Final Fantasy XVI throughout 2024, so we have nothing to worry about. Although something else is what concerns the current gamers with a Xbox Series X|S in their power and, even, to those who keep a nintendo switch on their shelves.
Final Fantasy XVI and the exclusive mania
We won’t waste too much time complaining about something that is part of the companies’ game when it comes to trying to sell us one console over another. Sony, due to its Japanese origin, has a special influence on what some studios develop and has advantages that, obviously, it financially encourages in some way, although the developer himself would like to offer his creation to other machines.
Square Enix It has a long list of exclusive games. From his ancient final fantasy only for Nintendo consoles, until the later ones only for the PlayStation shift. And luckily in recent years it has opened its hand quite a bit and it is possible to play with some of its deliveries on other machines. However,Final Fantasy XVI we will be able to see it work in a Xbox Series X|S or in one nintendo switch (or future Switch 2)?
Well, that is the answer that the community is looking for, digging as it does into the many statements that those responsible for the study have been leaving in the media in recent weeks, based on the information that talks about the PC version of Final Fantasy XVI.
Intentions vs realities
As we tell you, there are many people responsible for Square Enix who in recent weeks have come out to talk about Final Fantasy XVI, and it is in these statements where small changes in the strategy are glimpsed. Not for right now, but for the remainder of 2024 and, perhaps, 2025. Specifically, Naoki Yoshida has been the clearest in this regard, stating that he “intends” that his last RPG land on other platforms.
It was during the celebration of the last PAX East 2024 where Naoki Yoshida, Takeo Kujiraoka and Noisy Pixel discussed Final Fantasy XVI and its first major expansion, The Rising Tide, so they let several ideas come to light. The first, that this month we will have that extra content available in PS5; the second, that they continue working on the PC version to have it in stores as soon as possible; and third, that “they do not rule out the idea of launching the game on other platforms.” Does that include Xbox Series X|S (need extra storage?) and Nintendo Switch or just the machine Microsoft? What do you think? Tell us in the comments… we read you.
