We continue with the comparisons between the new operating system, Windows 11 and its predecessor and successful Windows 10with the aim of seeing little by little if it would be a good idea to switch to this novelty on your computer.
However, the tests that some testers are carrying out in this new operating system, are having their lights and their shadows. In this case, NeoWin wanted to test the operation of identical hardware when running four operating systems different:
- Windows 11 21H2 (original version)
- Windows 11 2022 Update (version 22H2)
- Windows 11 Dev (build 25201)
- Windows 10 (version 21H2)
In order to test the same with each operating system, the installation process was exactly the same, and they used a simulator (PCMark10 Extended) that includes office apps, photo/video editing, games, navigation, etc. The focus of the test was on seeing how the same set of software affects battery life on different operating systems.
Windows 10 demonstrates longer battery life, compared to Windows 11
The results obtained have not been positive at all for the new version of Microsoft’s operating system, Windows 11. And it is that Windows 10 showed a significantly better result, surviving for 18 more minutes.
It is true that we are not talking about a long time, but it does suppose 11% more battery. We show you, via NeoWin, how the results turned out:
- Windows 11 21H2 (original version): 2 hours 54 minutes
- Windows 11 2022 Update (version 22H2): 3 hours 2 minutes
- Windows 11 Dev (build 25201): 3 hours 3 minutes
- Windows 10 (version 21H2): 3 hours 12 minutes
However, this was not the case, since they also wanted to test the battery life, with each operating system, playing a YouTube video at 1080p in Microsoft Edge And these are the amazing, again, results.
- Windows 11 21H2 (original version): 4 hours 53 minutes
- Windows 11 2022 Update (version 22H2): 4 hours 50 minutes
- Windows 11 Dev (build 25201): 4 hours 55 minutes
- Windows 10 (version 21H2): 5 hours 24 minutes
Here we are already talking about 31 minutes longest between new Windows 11 and its predecessor, Windows 10. Also, between the different versions of the operating system, we do not see great improvements either.
With all this on the table, it cannot be said that Windows 11 is a bad operating system, apart from the fact that its latest feature update improves it in some aspects. However, it is clear, at least with this test, that Windows 11 seems to be worse when it comes to power efficiency on some hardware configurations.
Despite all this, for those in love with Windows 11, it is true that this slight battery difference may not be alarming to you Compared to other improvements they have included,
