2022 started with records for Steam and, already in the last part of the year, it showed that it had not yet reached its growth ceiling. In the last hours, the video game platform reached a new peak of players simultaneously and established a new historical record.
There were only two days in January and the platform reached 27.9 million connected users. However, it quickly surpassed the 28 million barrier a few days later. The rest of the year reaffirmed that trend and just a few weeks ago, in October, it reached -for the first time- 30 million users connected at the same time.

According to the figures compiled by the site specialized in Steam statistics, some of the games that collaborated to establish the new record -and which are among the most popular within the platform- are Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Lost Ark, PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS or GTA V.
Within the framework of remarkable growth that the gaming industry has had in recent years, the increase in Steam users is another proof of this trend. To measure the variation in maximum players that it registered, in 2019 it reached the peak of 17.6 million simultaneous users, while in 2020 that number rose to 18.3 million. Already in 2001 a great leap was made with 25.4 million people connected at the same time, to now exceed 30 million forcefully.
At this time of the year it is common for different proposals to arise that reward the best games that were released in the last 12 months and Steam is no exception. Until November 29, users of the platform can choose their nominees from 11 categories.
