The Redmi Note philosophy is simple: to offer inexpensive smartphones, without compromising on quality and efficiency. It is not the brand new Redmi Notes that will come to say the opposite.
Unveiled in France just a few days ago, the Redmi Note 12 range is now available from us. In line with their predecessors, these smartphones have it all. All the more so when we look at their extremely aggressive pricing positioning, the best-stocked model being sold at 499.90 euros.
Composed of four devices, including three 5G compatible models, the Redmi Note 12 range has serious arguments to establish itself in the highly competitive mid-range smartphone market. A brief overview of the spring novelties of Redmi, available for a few days in all linear.
Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G: the mid-range smartphone that has all the big stuff
With its Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G, Xiaomi has seen the big picture and offers a smartphone that is technically impressive to say the least. Its technical sheet reveals a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 5G SoC as well as 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, which allows it to perform in most areas, including 3D gaming. A nice 5,000 mAh battery, supplemented by a 120 W fast charge, allows it to last a day and a half without forcing too much.
Another strong point of this Redmi Note 12 Pro + 5G, its photo part carried by an IMX766 sensor. The rear unit can count on a 200 megapixel main camera with optical stabilization. It is complemented by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle and a 2-megapixel macro camera. It is also the only model in the range to have an OIS stabilizer. Enough to get quality shots in most environments, dark and bright.
Last advantage of this smartphone: its screen. The manufacturer has installed a very responsive and bright 120 Hz AMOLED panel, with an accurate display thanks to its 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 gamut. Compatibility with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos technologies completes the package for a video experience that could not be more satisfying.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G is available in a single configuration (8 + 256 GB) and comes in three colors: Polar White (white), Sky Blue (blue) and Midnight Blacket (black). You can already find it on Mi.com at 499.90 euros.
Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G: a reliable and affordable 5G smartphone
The Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G, for its part, makes some concessions compared to the Pro + model, which also allows it to be more affordable. It nevertheless shares most of its technical sheet with its big brother, especially on the battery part and the photo part.
On the photo part, the optical stabilization, the 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and the 2-megapixel Macro lens are still there. Only the main camera differs, since we find here a 50 megapixel camera. Xiaomi’s Image Engine is present, however, to improve image quality with AI.
A 5,000 mAh battery is also on the program, even if this time, the 120 W fast charge has been swapped for a 67 W fast charge. A slight difference which in no way affects the autonomy of this Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G.
On the technical sheet side, it is the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 5G which is at work, supplemented by 6 or 8 GB of RAM depending on the model. Enough to give this Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G a nice versatility on a daily basis. The phone also has a 120 Hz Amoled panel that we find here, still with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision compatibility.
Also available in three colors (Polar White, Sky Blue and Midnight Blacket), the Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G is available in two versions. Its 6 + 128 GB version is offered at 399.90 euros, while its 8 + 128 GB version is available for 429.90 euros.
Redmi Note 12: with or without 5G, it impresses
The latest in the range, the Redmi Note 12 is available in two equally affordable versions, which differ mainly in their SoC and the presence or absence of a 5G chip.
The Redmi Note 12 5G is equipped with a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 SoC which can count on 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage to support it. The display is provided by a 6.67-inch 120 Hz AMOLED screen, while a 5,000 mAh battery compatible with 33 W fast charging takes care of autonomy. A photo block consisting of a 48 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultra wide-angle and a 2 MP Macro lens is fitted on the back of the device.
The Redmi Note 12, for its part, broadly takes up the technical data sheet of the 5G version, but swaps the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 for a Snapdragon 685. 4 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of storage are added to this technical sheet. The two devices differ, however, in terms of the photo block, this Redmi Note 12 has a main camera of 50 Mpx, in addition to the ultra wide-angle and the Macro lens.
These two smartphones are already available from 199.90 euros for the Redmi Note 12 4G and 299.90 euros for the Redmi Note 12 5G. They are both available in three colours: Frost Blue, Onyx Gray and Forest Green.
Redmi Watch 3: a connected watch inspired by the best
To accompany its new smartphones, Redmi has also decided to unveil the third iteration of its connected watch: the Redmi Watch 3. A pretty bracelet that adopts a square dial of the most beautiful effect, surmounted by a bright 1.75 inch AMOLED screen , which can be viewed easily even in direct sunlight.
Very complete, it includes a heart rate sensor as well as an oxygen saturation sensor to help you monitor your sports performance, but not only, since monitoring sleep cycles is also on the agenda. The presence of a GPS chip and its water resistance up to 5 ATM make it an ideal companion for many types of exercises.
This watch is also very practical on a daily basis since it not only manages calls via Bluetooth, but also benefits from compatibility with Alexa. So you can turn to Amazon’s voice assistant to manage all your voice-connected devices.
Until next April 6, and to celebrate its release, take advantage of a reduction of 20 euros on the Redmi Watch 3, in its Black or Ivory version. What to get it at 129.99 euros instead of 149.99 euros in normal times.
