It is likely that post by post I will gain a reputation for being stingy: from my taste for incredibly cheap covers for my high-end phone to my habit of jumping from streaming platform to platform based on their catalogue. But it is that I like to take advantage of my economy and the resources that are free. Thus, I am not subscribed to any music streaming service: either I use the free versions with ads or I directly use this old but effective iPhone trick for which you do not need to install anything, it is free and allows you to listen to the songs you want in the order you want.
How to listen to the music you like for free without installing anything
Like my colleague Iván Linares, I try to install only the applications that I really need, turning to the browser for services like YouTube. This on the one hand allows me to save space and on the other makes it possible to do this trick, which although it is not new, it never hurts to remember it because it comes in luxury so you can listen to the songs you want without relying on randomness of the free versions of Spotify and Amazon Music and without having to install extra applications or even register.
For this purpose, enter the Safari application, the default iPhone browser, and access the YouTube website. There go to the song you want and play it.
Now exit Safari and enter the Control Center (swipe from top to bottom). You will see that in the upper right corner there is a paused playback. Press to play the song again.
Now the song will continue playing in the background while you do whatever you want on your iPhone or directly leave the screen off to spend less battery.
However, it is not perfect in terms of the music listening experience: although we will have songs on demand in an extensive catalog such as YouTube, you will not have access to the playlistswhich will make you have to change the songs manually.
