We have not yet been able to test Xiaomi’s new operating system, HyperOS, which became official a month ago, but we have been learning about some aspects such as the new Control Center. Recently, we learned that the Chinese manufacturer would make things difficult for anyone who wanted open the bootloader.
It is a quite understandable movement, although it has not pleased users, who are already trying ways to bypass this limitation. As is customary, the community has achieved total success, as they have demonstrated on social networks.
The community wins again
In the Android world, open the bootloader is a common action among most enthusiastic users. This unlocking allows you to later incorporate software unofficial, such as Android ROMs that keep devices updated outside of manufacturer support.
However, this may mean some sacrifices, and in this sense Xiaomi made it clear: if you open the bootloader, you will not have updates. It will not matter if other elements such as the recoveryonce the unlocking has been requested, our mobile will not receive the OTAs.
Until now, the requirements were not too strict, apart from the long wait. But now it becomes extremely complicated, with more specific requirements, namely:
- Level five on the Xiaomi forums.
- Actively participate in solving user problems in the forums.
- Three devices unlocked per year.
- Identity proven and approved by Xiaomi.
- Accept losing HyperOS updates.
These have not frightened users, who, as demonstrated in Twitter X, nothing is impossible. “We have successfully overcome the restriction community account level to unlock the HyperOS bootloader,” says the developer.
We have successfully cracked the community account level restriction for HyperOS BootLoader unlocking! It works fine on Xiaomi 14 and theoretically works on all devices running HyperOS (including those upgraded from MIUI). (1/2) pic.twitter.com/2yyG2YgIai

He highlights success using a Xiaomi 14, although he reports that it should work “on all devices running HyperOS”, including those that previously ran MIUI. It seems that the waiting time reaches up to seven days, but the user comments that the old method still works.
The ending of this story has been happy, although we do not know what will happen in the future. If everything Xiaomi said is true, the measures to open the bootloader they will harden. Of course, we rule out that it stops the most passionate community with modifying their devices.
