The well-known statistical research agency Canalys has just published new data referring to worldwide sales in the TWS-type earphones market in the second quarter of 2022, and there is good and bad news for Xiaomi. The Asian firm is still on the podium worldwide in terms of units sold, although, unfortunately, their growth has been greatly slowed.
This is something we see replicated in China, a market in which it dominates with an iron fist despite losing 30% of its share in the last quarter but, despite this, it is still ahead of giants like Apple in a tough battle that seems to be going on forever.
The headphone market continues to grow with a total of 63 million units sold
Interestingly, in terms of global market data, TWS type earphones have been the only category of personal audio devices to have grown during the second quarter of 2022, a trend that seems to continue to grow. Sales of these types of products increased 8% from the previous quarter with a total of 63 million units soldXiaomi being the third brand that sells the most with a share of 5%.
Despite being in third position, the Asian firm is down 38% from what we saw in the previous quarter, being behind Samsung and Apple, which have grown by 13% respectively. This is something that Xiaomi seems to be trying to nip in the bud with new global launches that will see the light very soon, the long-awaited Redmi Buds 4 Pro and Redmi Buds 4, which have already been very well received in China.
Perhaps that is why the brand continues to dominate the Chinese market over other quite powerful brands, although, curiously, in this region practically all the companies that sell the most this type of headphones have fallen in percentage of sales, OPPO being the only one of them that has managed to grow by 119%.
Therefore, we can see how, despite the fact that the market for TWS-type headphones continues to grow, companies established in the sector are losing some steam. to the detriment of new companies that are emerging and have been pushing very hard. We will see what happens in the coming months, but the battle seems to be served.
