There are small and big lies, some essential for life and others that can do a lot of damage, and be that as it may, Xiaomi wants to catch you absolutely all the lies thanks to a new patent.
Although polygraphs were invented more than 100 years ago and are still used today to detect liesthe truth is that Xiaomi wants to take a step forward by inventing the new polygraph of the 21st century, as indicated in the latest patent.
As reported by ITHome, Xiaomi has just registered a patent for a method of “polygraphdevice, mobile terminal and storage medium”.
This patent is described as a “method created for exclusive use on mobile phones”, being a lens pan and tilt camera that will be used to capture facial images and track the movement of the user’s pupil during this lie detection process.
This is how this invention would work if it materialized
Basically, this method consists of adjusting the angle of the camera to focus on the face of the person being examined.
The camera then captures an image of the person’s face and follows the movement of their pupils.
After that, the device analyzes the trajectory of the movement of the pupil and determines if it meets a specific condition that indicates a lie.
This technology is intended to be integrated into a mobile phone enabling a simple and effective lie detection function.
It should be remembered that eye movements and pupil dilation can be used effectively to tell if someone is lying.
According to previous studies, when a person lies, their pupils dilate between 4% and 8% of their initial diameter, in addition to this person also blinking up to eight times more than their original blinking speed.
