Xreart frame review: disassembled iPhones in picture frames

There are things you only believe when you see them. This is also the case with the “art of deconstruction” by the Xreart company, which tears discarded tech products apart into their individual parts in order to create attractive wall decorations from them. This includes various iPhone models, which are presented as a framed work of art disassembled into their components and can be purchased.

The technique is presented in a simple wooden frame with a simple plastic disc on top. The prices of such technology frames are not without, especially with special technology, I would be happy about somewhat higher quality frames. The very first iPhone disassembled into its individual parts in an even more beautiful frame? That would be perfect.

While the disassembled iPhone 5s starts at $139, the framed iPhone Classic costs $299. The first-generation Apple Watch is available for $189, and there are also disassembled Gameboys available.

Exclusive wall decoration: disassembled iPhone becomes a work of art

As avid iPhone users, most of you are probably familiar with iFixit’s famous iPhone teardowns. While the repair professionals in their deconstructions are concerned with evaluating the repair options, the company Xreart has something else in mind when disassembling iPhones. The tech-enthusiastic photographers behind the project disassemble various models of the Apple smartphone in order to create framed works of art from the components, which Apple fans can then hang in the living room as unusual wall decorations. Xreart currently has all iPhone models in its range, from the 1st generation iPhone up to the iPhone X.

In addition to the “logic board” as the heart of the iPhone, the images show, depending on the model, e.g. B. the “Taptic Engine” responsible for the haptic feedback, the front camera including the Face ID module, the processor and small parts such as the power button, the Lightning connector and the flashlight. The individual components are accompanied by the component names and short descriptions so that the dissected iPhones have an informative value in addition to the aesthetic effect.

According to the Bilderschmiede, the iPhones are used devices from authorized suppliers that are disassembled, cleaned, sterilized, redesigned and finally framed as part of the design process. The provider points out that the smartphones can show minor signs of wear, but this also contributes to a cool retro effect, in our opinion. Incidentally, in addition to the iPhone, Xreart also developed the first Apple Watch and other cult devices such as B. the Nintendo Game Boy and the Sony PSP 1000 in stock in exposed condition.

Disassemble iPhone yourself

If you have an old iPhone in your drawer and enjoy some crafting, you can download just the $8 template with labels and then glue the pieces together yourself. Then you can also buy your own picture frame that suits your preferences.

And what does the fun cost?

In terms of price, the teardown images are currently in a range of around $119 to $299 – not exactly little. For real Apple lovers, however, who are looking for exclusive wall decoration in honor of what is probably the most iconic smartphone of our time, this is certainly tolerable. Exclusive: If you enter the promo code “GEARRICE “ when ordering, you will receive a 10% discount on your purchase at Xreart. Incidentally, it is also worth taking a detour to the “On Sale” area of the website, because here you will find current offers with price reductions of up to 25%. According to the manufacturer, the delivery time to Germany is 10 – 12 working days, whereby an additional $10 is charged for shipping. We also treated ourselves to a few copies for our premises and can therefore confirm that the pictures arrived very well packaged and undamaged within the specified delivery time.
