Meta’s messaging platform has never been known for innovating in terms of features and, in fact, has always followed Telegram’s lead. One of the features that many WhatsApp users are eagerly awaiting is the ability to schedule messages, a feature that has been available on Telegram for a long time.
While the guys at WhatsApp are bothering to implement this feature, users of this platform are forced to resort to third-party services and platforms if we want to schedule sending a messagewhen we know that we are not going to have the mobile phone at hand and we want to give the impression that this is the case (everyone is free to apply this as they wish).
If we want to schedule the sending of a WhatsApp message, we can do it in different ways, depending on which platform we use. To do it on iOS, we must use the Shortcuts appcreating an automation with the content we want to send. On Android, the easiest way is to use the Wasavi appan application that we can download for free from the Play Store and that includes in-app purchases.
Although it may seem strange, we can also schedule the sending of a WhatsApp message from a PCusing, in this case, a Chrome extension, so we can use it on Windows, macOS and Linux.
Schedule a WhatsApp message
Both the iOS Shortcuts app and the Wasavi app allow us to schedule the sending of WhatsApp messages by performing a large number of steps, so many steps that, sometimes, we may lose the desire to do it.
However, on any PC it is much easier using the Bluesticks extension, an application that we can download from the following link.
Although this is an extension compatible with all Chromium-based browsers, after performing various tests, we have come to the conclusion that it works better with Chrome than with any other browser.
Once we have installed it, a browser tab will automatically open inviting us to log in on WhatsApp Web. When entering the data, we will see a new clock-shaped icon appear to the right of the text box.
The first time we click on this, it will invite us to register on the platform using a Google account. Once we have created the account, we return to the text box, write the text we want to schedule and click on the clock icon.
Next, a calendar will appear where we must select the day and time when we want the message to be sent. If we want, we can attach files by clicking on Add files.
Once we have set the time, click on Schedule Send. At that time, the message will remain pending to be sent until the indicated date arrives.
If we click on the pencil icon, we can edit the message. We can also send it at that moment by clicking on the paper airplane button. If we change our mind and want to delete it, we click on the X.
