YouTube tests new features for its paid version!
Technology companies do not rest when devising proposals to generate more income. After learning about the launch of Twitter and Meta paid subscriptions in recent months, Youtube it could be the next to join this trend. And it will do so with what is most sacred to users: resolution.
According to the Reddit channel, LinusTechTips Google-owned service is testing a new option within the video playback quality menu, available to members of the YouTube Premium subscription. Yes, there will be a quality “1080p Premium” only for those who pay.
New options could come to “YouTube Premium”
Users have shared a screenshot confirming the new option available in the video resolution menu. This sits right above the “1080p” option and ensures that this is an “enhanced bit rate” alternative.
This function would allow subscribers of the paid version of YouTube to enjoy videos at Full HD resolution with higher quality thanks to a higher bit rate per second. With which, in addition, there are rumors that suggest that the bitrate of YouTube videos has been reduced in recent months, a change that could be related to this new function.
But this new option could satisfy users’ desire for higher-quality video, which they address by switching to a 1440p or 2160p (4K) streaming option when available.
Except for comments and tests distributed on Reddit, The company has not offered statements in this regard. But it is believed that this update could be part of the proposals for Neil Mohan as a new CEO, after the news of the departure of Susan Wojcicki]as CEO of YouTube.
At the moment, YouTube Premium costs 11.99 euros per month and gives you access to ad-free videos, background playback, offline video downloads, and YouTube Music Premium. For now, YouTube Music and Premium’s subscription base is growing, reported to have around 80 million users in Q4 2022.
For now, the only sure thing is that it is a trial version, which remains to be received by users and see if it finally becomes another advantage of YouTube Premium.
