Shortly after Movistar revealed to us what will be the increase that it will apply to its different rates for fiber, mobile or convergent packages, now it is Vodafone’s turn. The telephone company already lets us know what the variation will be from one year to the next and, therefore, what is the amount of more that we will have to pay as a result of their rates changing according to the Consumer Price Index.

This is how Vodafone rates rise

Why prices go up in Vodafone? There are several reasons, although one of them is made clear on their website: «The prices of your Vodafone services are updated because from October 30, 2022 your contract is adapted to the new General Telecommunications Law«. According to the operator, this means that they have to incorporate a clause by which the company has to update the price once a year of their rates. Although, the truth is that not all operators have chosen to make use of this clause based on the CPI, as is the case with Movistar.

But, most important of all in this case, is that Vodafone did not want to wait much longer after seeing how its competitor already announced what would be the increase that it will apply to its rates. For this very reason, it has already announced that the new rates will have an increase of around 6.5% in their pricesbeing similar to the interannual CPI of October 2022 (although on the Vodafone website it came to indicate 8.1% erroneously).

When will the prices go up?

In addition to the fact that we ourselves can check update in the rates, just as they already let us know from which day this increase will be applied to the different rates in their catalog. Specifically, the date they have set is as of January 22, 2023. At that very moment, “will apply a increase in the monthly fee for your electronic communications services and/or fee for your service packages«, as they warn from the operator on their website.

Therefore, it must be clear that those customers who have a contracted offer from Vodafone will see a average price increase of 4 euros. Specifically, from the operator they explain that it will be 2.5 euros for mobile-only plans and 5.5 euros on average for convergent plans.

Likewise, the well-known red operator is also notifying all its clients of this increase. In said information, it also discloses how will the rate be that it currently has contracted with this price increase as a result of applying the interannual CPI that we have mentioned to you. Another important point is that those vulnerable customers From a financial point of view, those who currently have one of the company’s social rates are excluded from this price increase.
