Xiaomi has just announced a new feature for its phones that will completely transform the way we take photos. While this feature was already available on the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, it will now be expanded, in a more comprehensive and customizable way, to most of its smartphones, ensuring you won’t want to stop taking photos.
And with this new update, we’ll be able to configure and customize the camera app’s shutter sound with the real sounds of the Leica M3, Leica M6, Leica M9, and Leica M10 cameras. It’s not just the shutter sound; nostalgic users will be able to add and simulate the sound of rewinding between photos.
Xiaomi brings the analog and mechanical sounds of Leica cameras to its phones.
As Xiaomi has announced, starting this month, it will begin updating a large part of its smartphones equipped with Leica cameras, such as the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Ultra, or the Xiaomi 14T and Xiaomi 14T Pro. Well, this update will allow you to customize the shutter with realistic sounds from the iconic Leica M3, Leica M6, Leica M9, and Leica M10.
Plus, nostalgic retro lovers can enjoy the rewind sound of the iconic Leica camera’s motor. To do this, simply hold down the capture button in the camera app for more than 0.4 seconds. You can choose between the classic Leica M9 sound, the default Leica M3 sound, or a more modern sound like the one generated by the Leica M10.
This new feature is part of Xiaomi’s strategy to offer premium features and a greater level of customization on its phones, while also strengthening its partnership with Leica .However, as we mentioned, this update will only be available for phones equipped with Leica cameras, although we’ll likely end up installing it on any Xiaomi, Redmi, or Poco phone in one way or another.
