AirPods, like all other devices, are constantly updated with new features, tools, and security measures, so it’s important to keep them updated, just like iPhones and Macs.
Today, we will see the new version that arrives for the AirPods Pro 2, AirPods Pro 3, and AirPods 4, leaving aside previous models, which gives us the feeling that Apple is forgetting about them, and wants us to acquire something newer.
AirPods Update October 2025
Although Apple hasn’t provided exact details of the new features, we can glean several of them, although internally, they may bring more. Therefore, as we said, it’s advisable to update, even if they’re not visible, due to security issues.
- Better call audio quality: AirPods now deliver clearer, more balanced sound during voice and video calls by reducing ambient noise and improving voice clarity, even in noisy environments.
- Studio-quality recording: The new firmware enables you to capture audio with superior fidelity, ideal for creating interviews, podcasts, or videos with a more natural and professional tone. The microphones take better advantage of the H2 chip’s sound processing for clearer, more detailed vocals.
- Real-time translation: Live Translation makes conversations with people who speak other languages easier by instantly translating what you hear through AirPods when used with iOS 26. This is especially useful for international travel or meetings. *Not yet available in the EU.
- Possible internal improvements: While Apple hasn’t provided specific details about firmware 8A358, as we mentioned, it’s believed to optimize overall performance, fix minor bugs, and improve the stability of the new audio and translation features introduced with the previous update.

However, this applies to the aforementioned models, so if you have an older one, you won’t enjoy real-time translation or improvements to the audio or microphone, since Apple would have them more than optimized, and they can’t continue improving, so if you’re looking for something like that, it’s best to go for a new one.
To update, we will only have to have our AirPods in the case, preferably charging, and with the iPhone nearby, and with a WiFi connection, open it, so that they connect and, automatically, begin the process, since there is no update button, manually, as we see in the rest of the brand’s devices.
