Apple plans to celebrate 20 years of the iPhone with a model that could mark a before and after. Although the official anniversary will be in 2027, rumors are already circulating about a completely renewed design and technologies that seek to surprise even the most demanding users.
The most striking change would be a screen that covers the entire front, without visible frames and with curved edges on all four sides, giving the sensation of being made of a single block of glass. There is also talk of the disappearance of the notch and visible sensors, thanks to a camera and Face ID integrated under the screen, although not all analysts believe that this technology will be ready for that date.
The screen would use Thinner, brighter OLED panelsmanufactured by Samsung with a technology called COE, which allows more vivid colors and better energy efficiency. Apple would also be developing its own system to maintain uniformity of brightness even in curved areas.
In photography, a new generation sensor is expected with an enormous dynamic range, capable of offering results close to those of professional cameras. In terms of connectivity, Apple would continue betting on its own modem chipsseeking more speed and lower energy consumption than those of Qualcomm.
The processor will also take a significant leap, moving to a 2 nanometer architecture, which will translate into more power and efficiency. And as a curious detail, some rumors indicate that Apple could skip the name “iPhone 19” and go directly to “iPhone 20”, just as it did when it presented the iPhone X.
Although the anniversary will be in June, the presentation is expected to follow the usual September schedule. Everything indicates that this “20th anniversary iPhone” will be one of the most ambitious launches in the history of Apple, although it may also be in terms of price, since all this would raise it quite a bit, not to mention the possible resistance, since by even having “glass edges”, it could become very delicate, and a non-functional prototype.
