The crisis of the semiconductors perhaps no longer as serious as it was in late 2020 or much of 2021, yet it continues to wreak havoc globally. A clear example is that of Fordwho in the United States have had to resort to renting the parking lot of a race track to store thousands of cars that they cannot complete to deliver to their owners.
In images posted by The Driveyou can see the parking lot of the Kentucky Speedway almost full with more than 45,000 cars that Ford can no longer house in the parking lots of its plant located about 20 minutes from the circuit. These trucks, despite being out of the production line, cannot be delivered to their owners, because they are missing several chips that allow them to function.
The missing semiconductors are essential to operating things like safe, make the screens work, even so that they can start or activate their assistance systems to driving. This is only the case for Ford, as there are many other brands in the world that face similar situations. This is why it is so difficult to find a new car in dealerships or why waiting times are so long.
