The iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are Apple’s latest iPhones and are devices loaded with improvements and also some secrets. The four devices share functions and also some things that are very worth knowing, especially if you own one of them.
Load cycle counter
Knowing the status of the iPhone battery and the charging cycles is something very important that Starting with the iPhone 15 we will be able to know quickly and easily without having to resort to tricks or external tools. Apple guarantees that the batteries will maintain 80% of their capacity after 500 charge cycles.
Coming into Settings > General > Information and going down to the battery section we will find an information box that was not there in previous iPhones called Load cycles. Here we can see how many charge cycles from 0 to 100% our iPhone battery has.
Automatic portraits
Surely on more than one occasion you have taken a photo and then thought that Portrait Mode would suit it very well. Well now on the iPhone 15 you can apply it from the photo editing settings. The new iPhone, if they detect a photo of a person, pet or object, will automatically save portrait mode data in case you want to apply them later.
When you take the photo, At the bottom right you will see the ƒ symbol inside a circle. This means that you can apply Portrait Mode to that photo afterwards, even if you take it in normal mode.
48 megapixel photos
All the iPhone 15 has a 48 megapixel cameraalthough by default all they take 24 megapixel photos. However, we can activate the maximum resolution of 48 megapixels on the iPhone 15 if that is what we prefer, this can be interesting at certain times.
- On your iPhone enter the Settings.
- Now go down to the section Camera.
- Inside the camera, tap Formats.
- Flip the switch Resolution Control and ProRAW (On iPhone 15 and 15 Plus only Resolution Control will appear).
- Tap on Default format and select HEIF Max (up to 48 MP) or ProRAW Max (up to 48 MP) on Pro models.
- Open the Camera app and make sure HEIF MAX or RAW Maxwhich appear in the upper right corner, are not crossed out.
- Click on HEIF MAX or RAW MAX to switch between high resolution modes.
Load limit at 80%
The iPhone 15 also includes a new battery controller that allows limit the load so that it never exceeds 80%. This, in the long run, will deteriorate the battery less and improve its health, although we will have 20% less battery.
You can activate this new iPhone 15 setting from Settings > Battery > Battery health and charging > Charging optimization > 80% limit. When activated, the iPhone will only charge up to 80%.
Additional camera “lenses” on Pro models
On the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max we have the ability to switch between different focal lengths using the 48-megapixel main camera: the equivalent of 24mm, 28mm and 35mm. To use them and switch between them simply tap on the circle with the 1x when you open the Camera app and choose the one you like the most.
