The next generation of iPhone, which should be in September 2023, will come with several big changes, and one of them is the transition to the USB-C or Type-C port. It has taken them years and European regulations to embrace standardization.
Although Apple has been trying to resist the trend for some time and continue with its connector lightning proprietary, new regulations passed in the European Union give companies, including Apple, no choice but to equip their devices with USB-C.
This strategy, according to the EU, is supposed to help tackle e-waste, while making it more convenient for users to charge their devices without having to carry multiple chargers. No more asking “does anyone have an iPhone charger?” every time we left home.
A leak purportedly shows the base model of the iPhone 15, and the USB-C port is one of the first things we’ve been able to highlight. It is clear that Manzana doesn’t want to wait until 2024 to replace Lightning with USB-C, and if this leak is true the iPhone 15 It will have this connector.
And Apple will be encouraged with a Dynamic Island for all models
The second novelty that can barely be seen in these photos is the Dynamic Island (or Dynamic Island). The leak seems to suggest that this feature is coming to standard iPhone models as well, after previously being offered exclusively on Pro models.
This is something we’ve heard before as well, so there’s a chance that this will indeed happen, especially as Apple wants to expand the capabilities of Dynamic Island with new capabilities.
But for that you need the feature to be widely available among Apple users, so that developers will pay off the effort to take advantage of it with their applications.
The new generation of iPhone is scheduled to be announced in September, but considering that the leaks have already started, it should not take too long to know more details about the devices. The iPhone 15 will be historic if USB-C is confirmed.
