According to Mark Gurman, the new Mac Pro with an Apple Silicon processor would take months to complete, but it doesn’t seem like it will be the final version.
One of the Mac computers that has not been renewed for the longest time is the apple mac pro. We are talking about one of the most expensive equipment and that is more focused on intensive users, and that is most curious for being the only computer in the range with an Intel Xeon W processor instead of the new Apple Silicon.
While Apple gets rid of Intel with the MacBook and develops increasingly powerful chips like the new M2 chip, the Mac Pro continues to be anchored with a intel processor and a price that makes it a not affordable equipment for everyone. According to Gurman, this could have changed months ago, but Apple has preferred to stay that way. for now and probably rightly so.
The Mac Pro has to be as ‘Pro’ as possible, so it won’t be renewed until there’s a better processor
Well-known analyst Mark Gurman of Bloomberg has recently appeared on an interview for Max Tech, which talks about the company’s latest releases such as the new MacBook Air with M2 chip. As is logical, it is leading to other products, and in particular the analyst remarked that Apple had a Mac Pro ready with the M1 chip months ago, but chose not to release it to the market.
Naturally, the new Mac Pro was going to have been released with some kind of variation of the M1 chip for the most demanding usersProbably the M1 Ultra chip or maybe the M1 Pro chip, considering we’ve already seen both in MacBook Pros. The problem, however, is that the Mac Pro has always been much more powerful than other Apple computers, and When it was released with this chip, it would behave very similar to those laptops or the Mac Studio.except for improvements to other components.
For the same reason, even though the new Mac Pro with Apple Silicon chip was already ready, according to Mark Gurman from Apple they thought that waiting was a better idea. The idea is launch the new Mac Pro with a variation of the M2 chipwhich according to some sources could be baptized as M2 Extreme. It is not entirely clear what the real advantages of said chip would be, but everything indicates that it would be much more powerful than current models, probably being a fusion of two M2 Ultra processorsin order to address the workload that users of this type of equipment need.
Despite all this, what has not been talked about is a possible design change in the Mac Pro. It may be that Apple continues with the aesthetics and the models available to date of said equipment, which users seem to have liked quite a bit, or perhaps they choose to reduce its size as they did years ago with the ventilation limitations that it supposes.
