Nintendo is currently working on a brand new controller, which it is unclear which console it is intended for. Indeed, it looks nothing like the current Joy-Con, nor the Pro Controller of the Switch. What relaunch the rumors about a Pro model of the portable console.
At this point, it’s still hard to say for sure that the Nintendo Switch Pro exists. Nvidia’s hack revived the debate by leaking information about a console with an Ampere SoC, but the revelations are still too vague and too thin to create certainty. That being said, new rumors continue to keep hope alive, as does a patent unearthed by @SillyTweet5 on Tweeter.
The latter presents a brand new Nintendo controller, which is nothing like what we already know about the firm. Unfortunately, he is also rather sparse with information. The joystick is described as being equipped with a “battery housed in the recess of the internal frame” and a “flexible substrate that is installed on the installation surface of the inner frame and includes a conductive pattern”.
Is Nintendo working on the Switch Pro controller?
Not enough to give a precise image of the object therefore, and even less of the console for which it is intended. Nevertheless, its lack of resemblance to the Joy-Con raises questions. Could this be a new model of the Pro Controller? And why for the Switch Pro ? Indeed, it is likely that it is simply the controller of the successor to the Switch.

Of course, this is all just speculation. It is not uncommon to see patents popping up on the web that ultimately lead to nothing. Often, the company that is behind it only wants to protect its project to prevent the competition from taking it over. But, other times, they give key informationon the next products of a manufacturer. It remains to hope and imagine the improvements made by the controller, such as perhaps the end of the Joy-Con drift.
