Amazon on Thursday said it is discontinuing its edtech offering called Amazon Academy operations in India from August 2023 and will refund full fees to those enrolled in the academic batch. The e-commerce giant officially launched Academy (earlier called JEE Ready) last year. At Amazon, we think big, experiment and invest in new ideas to delight customers, a company spokesperson told IANS. We continually evaluate the progress and ability of our products and services to deliver customer value, and we regularly make adjustments based on those assessments. The spokesperson further said, after an assessment, we have decided to close Amazon Academy. We are phasing out this program to take care of existing customers. Amazon Academy will cease to operate from August 2023, when the current batch completes its exam preparation modules. Subscribers will have access to the full course content online for an extended period of one year till October 2024. The company said it is committed to serving its customers in the country and the decision will not affect its services. In January last year during the pandemic, the company launched Amazon Academy to help students preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for admission to engineering colleges. The service enables learning through live lessons, Thereby helping students strengthen their JEE preparation efforts as they can connect with expert faculty, learn concepts and clear doubts in real time. Bringing more discipline and rigor in their study methodology, it will offer prescribed lessons starting from Crash Course for the upcoming JEE Main, daily practice problems and regular tests.
