As we can read in the very first 2022 newsletter from analyst Mark Gurman, Apple reportedly intends to release an external display similar to the Pro Display XDR but with a price cut in half. A less efficient but more affordable model to reach a wider audience.
Simple rumor or real information?
You know the music, when it’s not Ming-Chi Kuo, it is Mark Gurman that sticks to it. The famous Bloomberg analyst has delivered his first round of crisp news and rumors to start the year off right.
Beyond the iPhone 14, the Mac M2, the AR / VR headset … Gurman returned to a subject that he had already developed not long ago to know a brand new external screen made in Apple. A screen that would be less efficient in some aspects but much more affordable in terms of price compared to that of the Pro Display XDR.
According to its sources, Apple would have every intention of selling an external screen around € 2,500, the main objective of which would be to attract a larger audience. Remember that the Pro Display XDR, reserved for professionals as its name suggests, is sold in two versions at a price of € 5,499 for the initial model and € 6,499 for the nano-textured version.
The information remains all the same rather vague because he says “hope” that this one comes out in the year to come, further proof that it must be taken with a grain of salt. We can bet that he is not the only one to have mentioned this external screen at a more attractive price even if for the moment, we have no suggestions on its technical characteristics.
Important to note that if this screen with a price divided by two is talking about it, it does not intend to replace the Pro Display XDR but only to offer a range that is aesthetically similar but more accessible to all budgets. Apple has certainly planned a Pro Display XDR “2” which will have the heavy task of doing better than its predecessor.
