Starting in April, account verification will only be available to Twitter Blue subscribers!
When Elon Musk became the majority shareholder of Twitter and took over the reins of the social network, many thought that Apple would distance itself from the social network and the controversial businessman. However, the rumors soon ceased, and the relationship between the company’s executives was managed in a cordial atmosphere, and even some time later Apple CEO Tim Cook wants to keep his Twitter account and also verified.
As of this week, several users have said goodbye to verification, which from now on will only be available to members of the paid Twitter Blue subscription. Surprisingly, Tim Cook has been one of the users who has decided to keep the popular brand and therefore pay to use Twitter.
Tim Cook uses Twitter Blue
While paying a subscription to stay verified isn’t appealing to most, it’s possible that users like Cook prefer to keep it to continue using their account as a trusted means of sharing relevant information about your work in the company, and although it is not common in Cook, at some point, even external issues.
In fact this week Cook has used the social network to tell the details of his most recent trip to India for the opening of an Apple Store in Mumbai, which is the first official store in that country.
Before Elon Musk acquired Twitter, the blue check was a symbol of authenticity for accounts that had provided verifiable informationand thus demonstrate that they faithfully represented the company or individual in question.
However, after the purchase for 44 billion dollars and the search for options to monetize the platformTwitter introduced the paid Twitter Blue subscription, which allows subscribers to have the blue verification on their profile, along with other benefits, such as the ability to post higher resolution (1080p) videos, share longer tweets, edit and undo tweets, among others.
So from now on, the accounts identified with the famous brand, display a message when hovering over it, in which it reads:
This account is verified because they are subscribed to Twitter Blue and their phone number has been verified.
At the moment, Twitter Blue is available for 9.68 euros per month or through purchases within the Apple application for 11 euros per month. The reason for the price increase when subscribing through Apple is probably due to the “Apple tax”. And no, we don’t know if Tim got a discount.
