Apple caused quite a stir among those waiting for new iPads this week. They will have to settle for a Pencil… Of course, there is always hope since the week is far from over, and then the rumors of a renewal were not completely wrong.
Rather than new iPads, Apple was content to launch yesterday a new Pencil equipped with a USB-C port hidden in the cap, and above all offered at a slightly more affordable price than the other two models. With the Apple company, we can’t swear to anything and perhaps we will finally be entitled to new tablets by the end of the week, as a persistent rumor hoped… even if it is absolutely not not won.
iPad 10 can be connected at all times in China
However, these indiscretions were not entirely wrong: Apple has launched a new iPad… but in China. And it is less a brand new tablet than an existing model that was not yet marketed, in this case the iPad 10 Wi-Fi + Cellular. Chinese consumers can now afford this version, the main new feature of which is eSIM support.

This cellular model is well known in the rest of the world where it is possible to buy it – for a modest additional fee of €200 all the same – since the launch of the iPad 10 last year. But for China, it’s all new. And to benefit from it, customers will have to subscribe to a package with China Unicom, the only partner operator at the moment.
This cellular iPad 10 is also a first for Apple in China, it is quite simply the manufacturer’s only device to be equipped with a functional eSIM chip. Chinese iPhones still have a slot for two physical SIM cards; As for the large iPad family, it is possible to buy any model in the cellular version, and they do have an eSIM, but its activation is currently only possible on the iPad 10 .
