Apple has fined one of its Indian-origin employee Dhirendra Prasad $ 19 million and Prasad has also been sentenced to three years in prison. Prasad has been found guilty of defrauding Apple of $17 million, or about Rs 138 crore.
Dhirendra Prasad worked in Apple’s supply chain department from 2008 to 2018 and during this time he duped the company of Rs 138 crore in different ways. According to the report, Prasad has taken payment from Apple for several products and parts, which never reached the company.
Prasad has sold Apple’s old products to some third party companies. Apart from this, parts have also been stolen. Prasad has also rigged the bill. Prasad has accepted his mistake. During his job at Apple, Prasad’s main job was to buy parts for old devices that were under warranty.
Prasad had also struck deals with two companies that supplied parts to Apple. Prasad has used Apple’s fraud detection technology to protect himself. In other words, Prasad used Apple’s fraud detection policy to defend himself against the company.
