Foxconn will be in charge of manufacturing Apple’s artificial intelligence servers
Apple has already started building its own AI servers using the M2 Ultra chips. Haitong analyst Jeff Pu has reported that the company is already beginning all preparations for the manufacturing of artificial intelligence servers with M2 Ultra chips with their suppliers.
According to information being considered regarding Apple’s supply chainFoxconn will be responsible for manufacturing the AI servers containing the M2 Ultra chip.
In principle, Apple’s artificial intelligence servers will use the M2 Ultra chip. But it won’t be for long. They will soon be replaced by M4 chips. The decision was probably made this way to facilitate faster construction.
Apple’s AI servers
Last month a very reliable source on Weibo claimed that Apple would use its own chips in its AI servers. On that occasion it was detailed that Apple planned to develop 3 nanometer chips together with TSMC for the servers but it was not specified which chips they were.
Apple’s AI servers will use M2 Ultra chips, but they will be replaced by the M4 chips, which are rumored to be focused on artificial intelligence, sometime in 2025.
Although Apple is working to have AI functions run on its own devices locally, the company will have to inevitably rely on servers for data storage and execution of certain operations.
There is also speculation that the 2024 iPad Pro will incorporate the M4 chip, although it was initially expected that its launch would be accompanied by the M3 chip.
The AI features of iOS 18
Apple will present all the artificial intelligence news for iOS 18 during the WWDC 2024 conference that will take place in June.
The company plans to introduce big AI changes in applications like Safari, Notes, Messages and other system elements such as Siri or Spotlight.
One of the latest rumors that have been circulating online suggests that Messages will receive a new AI tool capable of summarizing and analyzing text content in messages, documents and other types of information. Additionally, Messages will have greater synchronization with Siri.
We have also learned that Calendar and Reminders will come together by integrating content so that iOS 18 users can manage their reminders directly from the Calendar app on their iPhone.
